Early Life and Career

Betty Faria, a well-known Brazilian actress and producer, was born in the prestigious neighborhood of Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro.

She comes from a family of a general and a homemaker. After ten years of training in classical dance, Betty made her film debut in in the movie "Kiss." In , she played her first significant role in the film "Love and Unlove." In , along with her first husband, actor Claudio Marzo, and another actor, Antonio Pedro, she founded the theater "Teatro Carioca de Arte." The theater staged plays such as "The Good Soldier Schweik" by Jaroslav Hasek and "The Petty Bourgeois" by Maxim Gorky.

However, due to the military dictatorship in Brazil, the theater had to be closed down.
